BERNADETTE VAN-HUY    02.22.22  -  7.04.22

The Maria Leuff Foundation is pleased to present Seeing is Like, an exhibition by Bernadette Van-Huy.

Seeing is Like

93 million miles away, 99 bottles of beer

Alice, just through the looking glass in the sky

Is a vacuum with all its bounds blown off

And 93 million miles away is an epic, blazing ball

But for us, it’s right there

Up close, and very personal

Pressed against our vestibule curtain

The parent’s big body

Its 10-billion-hydrogen-bombs-every-second-Force goes blasting out, sweeping instantly

   over an amazing expanse

Along its way covering our Earth

It washes into our eyes, firstly

Bearing an eyewitness account to our retina

Secondly, our brain whips up a police sketch

It washes into our eyes, firstly

Pressing data from the original onto our retina

Secondly, our brain spits out a xerox

Seeing is like indirect

Seeing is like a game of telephone

Seeing is like translation

Seeing is like all an act
